Dryer repair – replaced bad rear seal

The brown marks on the rear bulkhead are from a dried up rear seal (mounted to the drum). The black is from metal on metal contact and is where the paint/enamel came off.

Never let your dryer continue running without service when it is making an abnormal noise! It could lead to bigger and more expensive repairs. Best bet is to have your dryer maintenanced and vacuumed out at least once every 5 years.
